It 's really tick me off-the creator of the Nikon system all responsibility for the system (sarcasm) decided to forgo automatic extension tubes. (Of course, now that I bought them, probably.) (AF will focus increasingly worse with 'pipes, so expect this.) Where Nikon failed to produce, Kenko has, and I am very pleased with the results, except for this mechanical problem. br / BR / If you like these tubes, I use them a lot, but do not worry about sag, I would be happy to provide a design that could have a local machine shop to produce probably under $ 100. I know that much, but it's worth, in the absence ofNikon or improved all-metal construction. I would carry around an extra five pounds is no problem, seriously, rather than sacrificing strength on a lens mount, which is what seems to happen with this.

Extension tubes are designed to enable a lens to focus closer than its normal set minimum focusing distance. Getting closer has the effect of magnifying your subject (making it appear larger in the viewfinder and in your pictures). They are exceptionally useful for macro photography, enabling you to convert almost any lens into a macro lens at a fraction of the cost while maintaining its original optical quality. The extension tubes have no optics. They are mounted in between the camera body and lens to create more distance between the lens and film plane. By moving the lens father away from the film or CCD sensor in the camera, the lens is forced to focus much closer than normal. The greater the length of the extension tube, the closer the lens can focus. Let's get this right. This is not a professional macro lens. This is a cheap alternative to those costly macro lenses. Great for a beginner. But the staff is a lack of depth of field images. So if you're a beginner and want to learn composition in macro photography and just getting started, so these tubes are very good. Get the job done. But once you graduate to higher levels ie once you are unsure about the macros you must purchase amacro lens.

I took some great pictures with them but I find them difficult to use – or maybe just me. The autofocus does not work with my lens, which is not necessarily a bad thing, as manual focus is more practical to close, however, but should. I can not focus on anything 5 'away or more. That's supposed to be? I'm using a Nikon D200 with a 60 mm micro lens. The shots that I took with success are just fine, so I persevere.
